Adverse action

Any unfavorable action taken by a potential creditor or other business that affects a consumer adversely. Examples of adverse actions include denial of credit, insurance, or employment. According to the Fair Credit Reporting Act, creditors are required to inform consumers of the reason for taking any adverse action.
