- Debt collectors are only allowed to contact you between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m.
- Debt collectors are not supposed to contact you at work if they know your employer disapproves.
- Debt collectors are not allowed to harass, abuse, or oppress you in an effort to collect debts.
- While collecting debts, debt collectors must not lie to you, such as falsely implying that you have committed a crime.
- Debt collectors are required to identify themselves clearly to you on the phone. They must not disguise their identity or purpose.
- If you send a written request, debt collectors are required to stop contacting you.
